![]() ![]() If its a usable pad of paper, I'll throw it in my Goodwill box. Third - It makes me feel better when I dispose of what I don't need responsibly. Eventually they weren't really what I wanted to use but I had been storing them so long, they felt like a sunk cost. Over the years I either never found them when I might have needed them and used other paper instead. I recently got rid of a few scratch pads that were 20 years old! At first I was saving them because they were a fun color and pre-numbered (for special lists I guess?). It makes the whole process that much more enjoyable. I'm not wasteful about it (I reduce-reuse-recycle) but for example, since I love to make lists I allow myself a lined notepad and nice pen in my favorite color instead of scratch paper and a pen that's half-dead and missing a cap. Since I love office supplies so much, if I force myself to reuse everything, I never get to use anything new or neat. ![]() Now I would rather pay extra to only buy one post-it pack (to keep my example going) instead of saving money to buy 5 and having to store the duplicates for years. One of my big decluttering "aha" moments has been that bulk may be a better deal price-wise but the hidden storage cost usually makes it a rotten deal in the long run. If I only used one post-it pad last year, I am not going to let myself keep more, ESPECIALLY if it's an item that I can find at Walmart for under $5. I don't let myself keep more than a year's worth of anything. I am an office supply addict in recovery.įirst - I limit what I store. ![]()
